Introducing the “Clan of Djehuty” Study Group: Empowering Minds, Reviving Our Heritage

We are excited to announce the launch of the “Clan of Djehuty” Study Group, a collective of like-minded individuals dedicated to deepening our understanding of African history, culture, and philosophy. Named after Djehuty, the ancient Kemetic deity of wisdom, knowledge, and writing, this group aspires to be a beacon of enlightenment and empowerment for the Black community.

For our first interactive reading, we will delve into “The African Origins of Civilization” by the renowned scholar Cheikh Anta Diop. This seminal work challenges the mainstream narratives of history and shines a light on the profound contributions of African civilizations to the world. Diop’s research and arguments provide a necessary foundation for anyone seeking to reclaim and understand the rich legacy of African heritage.

Why This Study Group Matters

In a world where misinformation and historical erasure have clouded the truth about our past, the “Clan of Djehuty” Study Group offers a sanctuary of knowledge and community. By engaging in scholarly discussions, we will not only educate ourselves but also empower others to see the undeniable greatness of African civilizations. This knowledge is essential for the self-realization and collective progress of our people. It equips us to challenge stereotypes, inspire pride, and foster a renewed sense of identity and purpose.

Our First Reading: “The African Origins of Civilization”

Diop’s work is a critical examination of Africa’s role in the development of human civilization, from the Nile Valley to the Great Zimbabwe. In our first session, we will explore the introductory chapter, which sets the stage for understanding the depth and breadth of Africa’s contributions to the world. This chapter introduces key themes such as the unity of African cultures, the ancient Egyptian influence on subsequent civilizations, and the necessity of an Afrocentric perspective in historical scholarship.

Join Us for Our First Interactive Session

We invite all members of the “Clan of Djehuty” to join us for our first Zoom class on October 12th at 9:00 am, where we will review and discuss the first chapter of Diop’s book together. This interactive session will be a space for open dialogue, critical thinking, and collective learning. By participating, you will contribute to building a scholarly community that serves as a beacon of information and empowerment for the Black community.

How This Study Group Benefits the Black Community

The “Clan of Djehuty” is more than just a study group—it’s a movement toward reclaiming our narrative and strengthening our intellectual foundation. By engaging in these readings and discussions, we become ambassadors of truth and beacons of knowledge. We empower ourselves to educate others, inspire the youth, and build a future rooted in the wisdom of our ancestors.

Together, we will illuminate the path forward, guided by the light of our shared heritage. Join us in this journey of discovery and empowerment as we explore the depths of African history and wisdom. Let’s reclaim our past to build a brighter future for generations to come.

Stay tuned for more updates, and we look forward to seeing you in our first session!
